Good Reads

Hope everyone had a great weekend. NYC was a lot of fun despite the weather. I think it is impossible not to love being in NY. I already miss it...
Thanks again for all of the book suggestions. I have a pile ready to read (should get me through a long winter). I started with this book "Family Affair" by Caprice Crane. It is awesome and it is still kind of chick lit, but a little more serious than that... I am still working on it, but should be done by this weekend. So, if you need a new one to read.... here you go!

Friday, October 23, 2009

Seriously, thank god it is Friday. This week was kind of boring, but busy and I am glad it is almost over.
At 5:25 I am getting myself on the train and heading to NYC for the weekend. I haven't been in months, so I am really looking forward to a weekend away. Shopping, eating, drinking... I want it all. Now. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good train read? Think mindlessly entertaining.
So my fellow Melrose girls -- lets all take a moment and thank god that Ashlee will be leaving Melrose. She was canned from the show. Yay. Double yay that Amanda is coming back on. There is hope for this show.

I also bought Ruby her first sweater... she isn't a huge fan yet (you can see the pain/embarrassment in her face), but I am sure she will grow to like it in time.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Wishful Wednesdays

'I wish' .... I was going on vacation tomorrow, and I would want to go St John, in the USVI.

I have been a few times and it is still my most favorite vacation spot ever. I would go back in a heartbeat... I spent my 30th bday there with a bunch of girlfriends, so it holds all these amazing memories for me.

Emma Pillsbury

Emma Pillsbury on Glee has one of the best wardrobes on TV. I am obsessed with everything she wears. Everything is perfectly color coordinated and preppy with the cutest pins, necklaces and shoes. Her outfits kind of remind me of a more modernized version of the outfits of Heathers (did I just age myself).

TMI thursday

TMI Thursday

I have been reading Liveit Luvit for some time now and have always wanted to do a TMI Thursday post. Mostly because, I love embarrassing stories. I have tons. I am not sure really if this classifies as a TMI according to LiLu, but we will see.

A couple of years ago I went out on a unseasonably hot night in June to celebrate a friends 30th bday party. I knew things were going to get out of control when only after a few drinks, I went to pay the tab and noticed the bartender laughing uncontrollably at me. Apparently, in my buzz state, I decided to (not intentionally) subtract the tip from the total. That wasn't embarrassing... just typical funny stuff. The night progresses... more drinks, more tequila, more red punch stuff and dirty dancing with young college co-eds. Around 2:30am we all pile in a cab and I get home to my 3rd floor walk up apt in the North End. It was so hot in there that I strip out of my work clothes and put on a tank and just keep my underwear on (some thong thing). I chit chat on the phone while making pasta because that is what you do when it is 80 in your apt and you are drunk. I get off the phone and next thing I remember is "MISS MISS GET UP!" I wake up in baby pose position on my love seat with two firefighters standing INSIDE my apartment with their full uniforms on. Me, "What are you guys doing here?" I thought I was dreaming but I didn't say it in a crazy shocked way, I said it more in a drunk flirty way. That is when I realized that I was in basically no clothes and had on my short short tank top that said "Dirty Bird". Yes. It did. Drunk dressing. Wonderful.
Apparently, I passed out while cooking and the fire alarm went off at 4am. My whole apt building was standing out on the street in their pj's and I got to go join them. Horrifying. Lessons learned: Hide the tank top and oh, no cooking while drinking/drunking.

Shop It To Me

http://www.shopittome.com/howitworks

Awhile back I was told about this website (from Lil Laur), and I still love it. I haven't bought anything from it, but I love getting the daily email in my inbox every morning. Basically, you can select what brands (a huge selection), sizes, stores etc you like and it picks through everything and sends you an email of your picks on sale with a picture. It is pretty cool, so I thought maybe other bargain shoppers would like it as much me.

Melrose

I am going to say it. I like Melrose Place again. It is kind of growing on me, however, Ashlee Simpson needs to go pronto. Did they even check to see if she could act before casting her? All I think when I see her is dead behind the eyes. She creeps me out and not in the psycho way the writers are intending her to.

Staying on the TV topic, who is watching The City? I still really like this show, but I am bit confused to where all of Whitney's friends are from last season (for instance: Erin & that model girl that cried the whole time etc...).

Eye Spy... Something... Chanel

(pic from Lucky mag)

I love these, but I would probably kill myself wearing them.

Michael Vick Show

I cannot believe that he would get a reality show let alone his football career back. This is disgusting. I already loathe this guy for what he did to those poor dogs, but to use it as some comeback story is appalling. If he makes any money of this show, it should go directly to the ASPCA.
For anyone who hasn't seen Dog Town, you need to try and catch it. It was such an amazing story.

Black Halo

I am a little obsessed with Black Halo lately... I don't own anything yet, but I think I may have to get the plaid dress ASAP. I walked by it today in Saks and stopped.dead.in.my.tracks. The pic doesn't do it justice - it is much nicer in reality.

One more quickie thing (Ok, I mean two).

I had to run into Sephora (joys again of working on top of a mall) because I have had the worse chappers. This stuff is a life saver -- they already feel a million times better, but I think this is now a must have for your medicine cabinet. Look at all the stuff it treats here. Since I was already at Sephora, I decided I could spend a few minutes playing with the perfumes. I may have found a good new one. Very Hollywood by Michael Kors (seen here). I am wearing it now and have already gotten a few comments on how good it smells... Just a little note: It is a little strong, so I think it can easily go from mmmmmmm to headache/gag real fast - so apply carefully.

Happy Friday!

This week has been hell, so I am particularly relieved it is Friday. Yay! Fun weekend ahead, so instead of boring on you all on the things I fretted about this week, I am going to do a positive post. I am really excited because my former roommate (from a billion years ago) has decided to move back to Boston. She is here right now apartment hunting. Makes me beyond happy because so many people are moving away lately... I am also going to do the choppy chop to the hair this weekend. I have tried to let it grow and I am not loving it. It is long and boring. I may regret this after I know, but I am ready for a little change.

Also, has anyone checked out the fun accessories that Jcrew has now for fall? A little bit of every trend in that sweet Jcrew way....

fishnet anklets are so cute, but I would probably be laughed out of my office.
Studs & Metallic... on a long skinny belt

Tan leather belts... as most of you know, you should buy these extra long so you can wrap around and around jackets, cardigans and dresses.
Jcrew men's belts may be better for this or go to Brooks Bros and get a boys one there (I think they are pretty inexpensive too).

Cheetah & Leopard are everywhere, but it isn't really me. I wish I could wear animal print and not feel majorly self conscious. However, I have no issue with tortoise.
This one is adorable.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND~
