Wishful Wednesdays

Photobucket

Kelsey at The Seattle Smiths has started a Wednesday tradition and I am excited to participate.

This weeks topic. 'I wish' .... My pet could talk because I have been dying to know if she thinks I am her baby. Each morning she tries to clean me. She pets my head with her paw and licks my pony tail, arms, face and feet. I am not sure if it is to wake me up, to get me out of bed (so she can have it to herself), or if she thinks I am her baby.

Man in Manhattan

I am breaking up with Facebook (or just going to take a break)

I need a break...I am finding some of my Facebook "friends" truly annoying with their disgusting/TMI/complaining/who cares status updates. Most of the time I laugh, but lately... I want to grab that person and shake them (hard). To be fair, I post status updates too... I am CERTAIN that people may find me annoying too.

A few months ago, I went and de-friended people and had anxiety if they would realize I wasn't their friend anymore. After awhile it felt good. You - You're outta here. You - enough of the wake up and bed time updates.

Example: I went on a few dates with this guy it never worked out. He was smoking hot, but 1) he knew it, 2) he was a male chauvinist, 3) he was cheap, 4) he was a male chauvinist (so much so it needed to be said twice). He friended me on facebook and I accepted. After months of his awful status updates about the president, economy, inadequate women (still a major male chauvinist)... I was like AHHHHHH, I can't take it anymore and hit the button (delete).

Dear Jimmy, You may have stole my heart....

I have to walk by these every day sitting in the window all pretty. Staring at me. Saying, BUY ME NOW. Anyone got an extra $1k and change?

Life Lesson(s)

Sometimes things don't work out the way you want to even though you wish really hard. Sometimes people don't change.
Sometimes people don't live up to your expectations.
Sometimes you are allowed to make mistakes.

This is my amazing friend Sally

Her Madonnarama themed 30th bday party.

About a year ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was young (early 30's), healthy, and cancer didn't even run in her family and some how - she got it. Despite going through so much, she never stopped being an awesome loving friend. I am in awe of her courage, strength and perseverance (and so proud of her). A few weeks ago she finished her treatments and when I ran into her on Sunday, she mentioned doing this. I don't run...really, but this sounded like the best way to celebrate with her. So, on Saturday, a few friends are getting together to run the 2008 Mass Race for the Cure. If you would like to donate, here is my link. If you are in Boston, we need cheerleaders -- come see us! Thanks in advance for your support~

The last couple days...

At U2 last night.... Amazing show.

At Splash

Saturday night we all went to this new spot called Splash. It was kind of horrendous. It has a pretty cool concept, but like every other place in Boston trying to be the new in spot (wanna be LA/Vegas/Miami/NYC), it doesn't relate well here (read: leads to a real cheesy scene... NYC's may say B&T, here we think of lots of spandex, big hair, fights (girls), people doing drugs in bathroom and gold chains).

I will give every place a chance, but I guess I am not cut out for these little clubby scenes anymore (I hate house/techno music). At first, it was great. I made a reservation for dinner at nine for just us three girls. I was promptly told after we sat that we would have to move at ten because they need to switch over to European Table Service (i.e. bottle service that doesn't allow you to keep the bottle on the table). That was fine since we were just ordering apps and decided we wanted to go to the bar on the roof deck after eating. At 10:01, we asked for the check. The waitress being super cool was like don't rush because obviously no one is here yet, so take your time, finish your drinks etc. As she was checking us out, a hostess came over and told us we had to leave (she was wearing flip flops...realy high class place, you see?). Fine. We explained we were getting our check and the waitress was checking us out. 2 minutes later another hostess came over and reminded us we had to go. I was seriously now irritated because it may have 10:10 at this point and NOT A SOUL was sitting at the tables. So anyway. we got over it... but then I started to look at the crowd and realized we were amongst a lot of strippers and then men that love them (read: lots of gold chains and gel). I recalled then, that CenterFolds (nudey bar), was the closet bar.... Enough said. It was just a cheesy and over rated place. I really wish Boston just could get the cool lounge vibe thing without trying to be something it will never.

U2

I normally dread Monday's... especially after a wonderful weekend, but this is the best way to kick of the week (even though I will pay for this the rest of the week).

Happy Friday!

Any big plans for the weekend?
Tonight, I am going to Jersey Boys. I have had these tickets for months now and am ready & excited to go --- I hope I am not disappointed.
Tomorrow, my favorite NYC chic is coming into town. We will get the B4s together, minus one (we will miss you MeMo), to catch up, get into a bit of trouble and make sure we give Noriagi a proper Boston send off before she moves back to Cali. I am very bummed that one of my best friends is moving away in a few weeks. Silver lining alert. I have never been to Cali, so I have no more excuses not to visit ALL.THE.TIME.

I have also ordered Ruby's Halloween costume (above). She is very excited for her first Halloween. This place, I take her to doggie day care is having a Halloween party with a pet psychic. I have already booked my appointment which is for laughs only. Unless, she tells me how happy Ruby is and how much she loves me, then in that case it is all true.

Have a great weekend!

Open letter to my fellow Bostonians....

Or to the rude/ignorant/clueless people I meet everyday.

I have been having a lot of issues with people. I find them very annoying.
I am not sure why people do the following things... how did they get through a normal day without getting the arse kicked.

  • Hey missy on your celly, stop texting and go through the revolving door instead of standing right in front of it.
  • Hey mister, why do you have to hog the whole counter at Starbucks. Get your stuff and move on instead of standing right in the middle while mixing away. My hand is burning and I hate having to reach over to you get my Sweet & Low.
  • Hey a-hole, I don't work the doors. I am holding it to be polite not to make sure you in get easier or you don't have to touch the handle. Thanks for scooting right by as I still continue to hold the door. Oh btw, you are welcome. Glad I could be of service.
  • Hey family of tourists, wow, you have never been in a mall in Boston. Thanks for walking four long and stopping short (OH, Ann Taylor! who cares -- move on), walking slow so I can't get by and every time I do veer to get past you, you move in my direction (and of course you stop short). I am trying to get to work, not that you care.
  • To the lady in line at Tossed. We waited in line to get a salad for 10 mins. How could you not know what you want when you get to the register? The man taking your order was about to do something bad to your salad. Me, I was ready to slap you in the back of the head.
  • To the lady who works at CVS, thanks for being so pleasant when ringing me up. I understand you were busy yelling at your boyfriend or husband, but I am paying customer. Why did I say thank you... and you said nothing? Oops.. I think we got that backwards.

Is it just me or are people just clueless? Do you find this in your everyday life too? Sometimes I feel like I am going to go postal and just start telling people off, but I wont cause I am too polite and too busy holding the door for them.

Like Leather

I would kind of like to get a pair of these (these ones are Alice + Olivia, I am thinking way cheaper), but all I can think about is that Friends episode with Ross and his leather pants. Leather Leggings?
What are your thoughts on them?

Fall Shopping

I have been a little busy with work this weekend, so to get myself into the office I make a deal with myself. If you go to work on on weekend, you can go shopping for a bit when you are done for a reward. It is kind of awesome (but sometimes not) that my office building has a mall underneath it (Prudential Center/Copley).

I am obsessed with blazers and long cardigans lately.
always could use an extra ankle boot -- these are super comfy.

I picked up these little items at Jcrew and Nine West. I also bought a ton of tights, and finally, I decided I would jump on the legging train and bought a pair of those too (cable knit). I know, a little late, but I just couldn't do it for the longest time (brings me back to 5th grade).

Maybe i'm the joker
Maybe i'm the fool in your eyes
Maybe i'm the weak one
Maybe i'm a lie in disguise
Maybe i'm angry
Cause i'm the one whos always wrong
Maybe i'm not the one whos so strong

Sometimes a song can just sum up everything you are feeling.

I am feeling a little blah today. Not sure if I am tired, have a lot on my mind, the weather or that it is 9/11. I am looking forward to going home and just vegging out with all my September fashion mags (Vogue/Lucky could be used as weapons this month) and dreaming of all things studded with red soles.

365 Hangers

Has anyone ever heard of this shopping website? It is a pretty smart idea. You can get heavily marked down clothes based on what best fits your body shape. They have a different look every day of the year for each body shape.

Link Here!

I have never bought anything, but they do have really cute stuff each day. Hope you enjoy it.

I Love TV....And I Cannot Lie

I watched Melrose last night (and 90210) as most of you already know.
My initial thoughts are mixed, but I think I am going to try and stay with it for a bit. It has potential, but I think it lacks all the drama of the original. Who can really compete with Amanda, her roots, short skirts and overall vindictiveness?

Take aways:
Sidney died right at the begging. A bit surprised. Thought they were making here the new "Amanda."
Michael Mancini... was that Daphne lying in bed with him? Sorry, I go from real names to character names.
Violet (Ashlee Simpson) really had no lines. Character development to come?
The guys aren't as hot as the original crew (Andrew Shue and Grant Snow - hello?!? even in high school I knew these guys had something with their feathered hair and high waisted jeans.)
The other characters were a snooze...
I wish they could have it made more old school and introduced the characters through 90210 like they originally did back in the day.

What did you all think?

In other TV news, my new favorite show is Glee.... I literally have laughed out loud several times. So, if you are in need of a show that is new and clever (and a musical) and not reality tv (what? you gasped? I know, we all love reality tv).

Next Week.... Hills and Gossip Girl.

Stayed Tuned.

I'm Back

...from vacation, but things have been a little hectic. I am looking forward to catching up with all your blogs tonight over a glass(sssssssss) wine and while watching Melrose.

Is anyone else excited?
