Wine
I stopped in at the Wine Emporium on way home from the gym tonight to poke around, cause it was open and I wasn't ready to go home. I found a great Pinot Noir called Poppy. Honestly, I got it cause the name of the wine was too cute to pass up and actually the taste isn't that bad. Cost was 17.99 and, I believe, it is completely worth it... for the cute label, name and overall taste. Not normal wine review, huh?

Are you going to pay bills?
I checked my mail today, and of course I got my gas bill. Note: There are a few things that I didn't know before I moved into my new apartment: 1) The heat in here never works 2) When it works... well, I wouldn't say works, but when the heaters get a little bitty warm it still doesn't get over 65 without the assistance of TWO space heaters 3) I didn't know how much utilities would cost in addition to rent (only ever had to pay electric, gas/water always were included, but anyway...)
Needless to say, I still get a bill from National Grid and it is NOT cheap. Actually, ridiculously expensive. So, I decided to call today to ask how they can explain how I use so many "therms" in a month. I don't really cook, I am never home, I never change my thermostat (cause it doesn't work) and my shower never gets hot hot, so I was confused. I am not lying, this was the conversation:
ME: I would like explanation of how my meter is read. I just don't get how my bill can be approximately $200 each month and it isn't even warm??
Person on the other line: Well. in the winter it is cold, so you use more therms.
ME: Huh? I don't change my temperature
POTL: Well, it was cold in Jan & Feb.
ME: Understand that, but I don't jack my heat up to 80 (would if I could and happily pay for it).
POTL: Yea, it's cold out. It should be cheaper this month cause it isn't that cold... Tomorrow is supposed to be 50.
ME: OK, but that doesn't make sense. I don't understand why I had my gas filled? Did I use it? I just got it filled last month. I live in a one bedroom apt.
POTL: Oh - sorry. It has been cold.
Seriously, National Grid needs to put me on a budget plan. I would forgo the heat altogether, if I knew it would be the same as a new pair of shoes each month.
Gah.

The Hills
I am not sure what to think. I know I shouldn't watch it, but I am all interested again. Another wasted 30 mins (15 mins if DVR'd) a week.

Oscars
For the last few years, I gave up on the Oscars. They just became so boring and predictable. Tonight, I am looking forward to watching them for a few reasons.
Jen is supposed to bring John. Will he say something inappropriate or not even show? Will they interact with Brad and Ange? I wish Issac was still conducting red-carpet interviews because there would definitely be a cringe worthy moment.
Again with Brad/Ange: Will Ryan Seacrest try once more to get an interview? Will they blatantly blow him off again?
If Heath wins, Matilda will get the Oscar and everyone will give his dad a standing ovation/cry.
Sean Penn most likely not show up, but if he does, he will act like it is like the last place on earth where he wants to be.
Mickey Rourke: if he wins, will he go on and on about his dogs again?

Weekend
I think it is going to be a big yawn...
I am heading out shortly for a few drinks (probably a few too many) and dinner. I am feeling very tired and slow today, so I am in desperate need of a second wind. Hopefully, after a cosmo - I will be ready to go.
My major goal is to get two papers done, but I have no inspiration to write them. I am going to try and start taking yoga at this little studio near my apartment. I think they will probably make me take a beginners class first, so I am not sure if I will find it boring and give up. I need a new workout plan cause the elliptical machine and the treadmill are killing me slowly by way of boredom.
So hopefully everyone has a fab weekend and is doing something amazing... If you do, please share you stories!

Brett Michaels
LK just told me no: Flat out "No, you aren't going!"
But, it's my bday and I want to see the eyeliner up close. I also want to see what is underneath the bandanna. Hair extensions or bald? Now, I will never know.

Brain Dump for a Monday... I mean Tuesday.
I like having Monday's off... but it only makes Tuesday seem like a Monday, so I have been in a blah mood today.
I am sad that Domino magazine is folding now. It has been my favorite magazine for years now and I will miss not getting it each month.
Real Housewives of the OC. I want to start a I Loathe Vicki fan club. She is by far the most annoying housewife... Jealous much? I am really looking forward to the New York one coming back on. I miss Bethany and Jill. It just came on now and I should go to bed, but I really want to watch it. Thank God for DVR!!
I am reading Pursuit of Loneliness by Philip Slater for a social history class and it is really good... Even though my professor said we would probably not like it too much. Next on the reading list is Malcolm X. I am hoping to start that this week, but with the reading requirements and all the papers due I am felling like aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhha.
I am looking forward to a chick flick fest and see Confessions of a Shopaholic and He's Just Not That Into You.
CD and I will have dinner after class tomorrow night and I am worried about what I should eat already as I am on a major mission to loose twelve pounds before I leave for Miami. Regardless, I don't feel like I have seen him too much lately, so it will be something to look forward to tomorrow.
TF just came up with an Italy plan and I am wondering how I am going to make it work. Ten days in Italy = dream! Oh and LM suggested Italy in March, but I don't think I can make that work on such short notice.
I think that is all for a one random thoughts post.

Vince

Saks on Saturday: Looking for spring/summer clothes, but I found this leather jacket by Vince. I don't think it is spring friendly (and I haven't worn a leather coat since maybe the 8th grade), but nonetheless I really like it.

Finally... The Greg Show
Going to see Greg tonight and am super excited! Should be a lot of laughs and a lot of other girls that dig Greg too. I also want to see "He's Not That Into You" at some point this weekend. I do think I will be officially Greg'd out by Monday. Stay tuned.

An Issue with the Crew

What happened to JCrew? I usually love the clothes in there, but today I walked around in circles thinking where has all the good stuff gone??? Is it turning into a recession wear season (baggy sweatshirts, wrinkled button ups and distressed khaki's)? I normally go in and want to buy out the store, but this time I was really confused and on a mission to find something, I bought a few tee's and a long cardigan for spring. The sale rack didn't really have anything either. It has to be a fluke! I am just hoping they are in a weird mid-season, don't know what to put out cause no one is shopping kind of funk.
With that said, I did like some of their footwear choices. These are really cute and ideal for summer. Also, they do have some cute summer dresses on their website.

Loub Job:
Part-time employment for the sole purpose of funding one's designer shoe addiction.
Kelly: (looking into store window) Omg Merry, those Christian Louboutin pumps are calling to me. Sigh.
Merry: I'm not lending you any more money, you're tapped out.
Kelly: Yeah...I need a Loub job. Do you think Bloomie's is hiring?

VDay

CD just sent me the prettiest bouquet of flowers Valentine's Day. So pretty and he didn't put that many lily's in it. He listen's so well... I love that I got them today, so i can look at them all week. I think I should maybe start getting an arrangement each week. Asking too much?

Just booked another trip for the end of March to celebrate Heidi's bday... This time checking out the National hotel, since I liked the atmosphere so much more than the Sagamore. Counting days to fun in the sun. The diet begins pronto this time.

Nobody puts Baby in corner
I am beyond excited to see Dirty Dancing with my n-mint in March. This morning's Boston Herald had a great article about how the movie came to be.
Dirty Dancing is playing at the Opera House from now until end of March/early April.

GNO

Girls/Game Night Fun
Highlights:
Wine, wine, vodka and more wine.
Upper Crust delivered the pizza... Garden = Yum
Wine, vodka, wine
Apples to Apples = hilarity (Aimee only needed to explain it a few times "A-ha, we get it"
Fun with Cameras
Door broke while Aimee was outside (it was like Antarctica last night)
Aimee knocked feverishly, but we couldn't hear her cause we were having fun with cameras and cranking the ipod (everyone wants a cd mix by dj lil Lauren).
____________________________________________________________________
At my house tomorrow. Looking forward to having friends over... I decided to make it more eventful than a winefest this time, so I decided that we will play games (like the board variety). I am having a hard time deciding what games to play. Hopefully, people bring some with them. As I walked by B&N this morning, I saw Would you Rather? but I don't think the board game would be like the ones I play with friends about people we know. Get the idea? Anywho, need to go search... I think Outburst may be a good choice.
